openSUSE in Mobile Devices, present and future

I am currently one of the people working on the portability of mobile devices to openSUSE, I started with the integration of the Pinephone (Pine64) and that led me to try to port more devices and continue with the VollaPhone (Volla), my free time is limited and my current resources come from what I can afford to spend on second-hand phones for testing. Today we have practically complete both devices, we can have the basic characteristics of a mobile device and we also have all the possibilities that come with having a distribution like openSUSE.

The journey has been long and complex, the integration with the last mobile that I have worked on has required external help from colleagues from other distributions who have helped me with advice on how to get certain elements to work. All the images of these devices are created in the software provided by openSUSE for the creation and maintenance of the package used in its distributions, the OBS (Open Build Service).

Currently the work is focused on improving the image called GSI for mobile devices that natively have Android 9 or 10, this means that the current image would not only work for the VollaPhone but also for new devices, so the future of my work It goes through testing these images on new devices (currently I only have two new ones to test).

If I can make these new devices work, it would be a great advance since it would allow us to open the range to more mobiles. The current list looks like this:

Actualmente soy una de las personas que esta trabajando en la portabilidad de dispositivos móviles a openSUSE, comencé con la integración del Pinephone (Pine64) y eso me llevo a intentar portar más dispositivos y continue con el VollaPhone (Volla), mi tiempo libre es limitado y mis recursos actuales proceden de aquello que me puedo permitir gastar en teléfonos de segunda mano para hacer pruebas. A día de hoy tenemos prácticamente completos ambos dispositivos, podemos disponer de características básicas de un dispositivo móvil y además disponemos de toda la posibilidad que conlleva disponer de una distribución como openSUSE.

El camino ha sido largo y complejo, la integración con el último móvil que he trabajado ha requerido de ayuda externa de compañeros de otras distribuciones que me han ayudado con consejos sobre cómo conseguir hacer funcionar ciertos elementos. Todas las imágenes de estos dispositivos se crean en el software que proporciona openSUSE para la creación y mantenimiento de paquetería usada en sus distribuciones, el OBS (Open Build Service).

Actualmente el trabajo se centra en mejorar la imagen denominada GSI para dispositivos móviles que nativamente dispongan de Android 9 o 10, esto significa que la imagen actual no solo serviría para el VollaPhone sino que también para nuevos dispositivos, por lo que el futuro de mi trabajo pasa por testear esta imágenes en nuevos dispositivos (actualmente solo dispongo de dos nuevos para hacer pruebas).

Si puedo hacer funcionar estos nuevos dispositivos sería un gran avance ya que nos permitiría abrir el abanico a más móviles. El listado actual queda asi:
